Where to buy, rent, and learn SUP at the beach in Delaware and Maryland.

Stand up paddle boarding has really taken off here on Delmarva. There are numerous shops and locations to either buy, rent, or take lessons. Here is a list of a few of the places that are highly recommended. This is not a comprehensive list of all the shops in the area, just the ones that we have experience with and that will treat you right.

If you are in the west Ocean City area or downtown OC I highly recommend checking out Walk on Water located at 9808 Stephen Decatur Highway (410-289-8787). Owners Ron Gossard and Sandy Deeley are local elite racers who have tons of experience on the local and national race scene. They just don't sell SUP they live it. They offer lessons, rentals, and sales.

If you are in the midtown OC area check out OC Sup and Fitness. Owner Dawn Ehman is an elite women's racer, fitness instructor, yoga instructor, SUP instructor. Located at Fager's Island this is a perfect spot for your SUP adventure. Dawn also puts on the Surf Swap Challenge race and the Battle of the Bay. Watch out though, she may be the fastest female SUP racer in the area!! If your interested in SUP Yoga, boot camp etc.. this is the place to go.

If your in the uptown OC area or in lower Delaware than you have to check out Delmarva Board Sport Adventures. Located in Fenwick Island directly in front of Harpoon Hanna's. Delmarva Board Sports is owned and operated by Janis and George Markopoulos, two of the most stoked people you will ever meet. They offer sales, rentals, excursions, as well as windsurfing equipment and lessons.  Want to do SUP Yoga, paddle with the dolphins? This is your place. Their location is hard to beat. If you are in the Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey Beach area check out East of Maui at either of their 2 locations. They are a full service surf and SUP shop with a great product line and knowledgeable staff. They offer lessons and rentals out of their Lewes shop with easy access to the bay. 302-227-4703.

Group paddle / race training 7/8/12

There will be a group paddle / race training tomorrow 7/8/12 at 12pm at Assawoman Wildlife Refuge. Meet at the Sassafras Landing. It will be your first dirt road on the left after you enter the park. It will be hot so bring plenty of water. A decent turnout is expected and it is a great way to meet other paddlers and train for the upcoming races.
